The Chargers fell to 2-2 on the season after dropping to another state-ranked opponent. The visiting Thunderbirds (averaging 52 points per game) brought their power running game to Ed Kaelin field. A fumbled punt snap in the first quarter led to a quick North Central score. The Chargers answered with a score of their own in the second quarter and the teams went into half with North Decatur on top 7-6. After receiving the opening kick of the third quarter, the North Central running game ate up most of the third quarter, scoring at the 3:59 mark. The Chargers drove several times to answer, but fell short after multiple dropped passes. Picking up their final score at the 10:16 mark of the fourth quarter, the Thunderbirds would go on to win 20-7. The Chargers had 197 yards of total offense to the Thunderbirds’ 271 yards.
